On this week’s episode of The Suuchi Podcast , we have one of the founders and Director of Licensing and Partnerships of Thread, Kelsey Halling. Kelsey discusses how Thread works to help every brand use more sustainable and recycled materials in their clothing lines. She discusses how they’ve been able to use their recycled materials and now are also moving to help new designers have the tools they need to be socially and environmentally responsible. Kelsey also talks about how throughout the globe, Thread has different focuses on different goals to help those communities. She also gives some insight into their move to work directly with consumers, as well.
Kelsey shares her story of what it was like to be a part of launching Thread and how even if the beginning is a little rocky, the long-term return of watching it grow is well worth it. She shares how Thread’s “The First Mile” initiative which brings awareness to the story behind the recycled materials that they are using and who was involved in the process. Kelsey also discusses how many of the founders did not have a background in the recycling/sustainability or the apparel industry and how their outside perspectives helped them remain positive throughout the challenging process.
